Are you a preeclampsia survivor? A preemie mom? A NICU parent? Are you a traumatic birth survivor? Do you help women during pregnancy or postpartum? Would you like to be considered to share your birth story on my Instagram, blog, or podcast episode? Please fill out the form below and I’ll contact you if it’ll be a good fit.
In the message box, please share why you would like to share your birth story. As well as giving me a summary of your birth story.
Here’s a bit amount me and why I created this space for parents to share their birth stories.
I started blogging in February of 2020 as a way to get my birth story out there and connect with others who went through similar things as I did. I developed preeclampsia with severe features and gave birth to my daughter at 35 weeks and 3 days. My daughter was also IUGR and went through a 15 day NICU stay. I had a total of 9 days I was hospitalized before and after birth.
I felt like my husband, Steven, and I was the only ones in the world to have gone through what we did. No one in my real life went through anything similar to me, so I thought I was the only one. One of the therapists I saw suggested to me to start writing a blog. I always loved to write (in fact as a teenager I was published in 4 complications of short stories and poems), but once I went to college and became a mom that hobby of mine was pushed to the back burner.
Beginning of 2020 I mustered up any courage I had, sold items on the Facebook marketplace, and purchased a domain. Steven and I worked on building a website by watching youtube videos and reading articles. I launched end of February 2020. Since then, my website layout has changed and I have learned so much. I have been able to connect with other preeclampsia survivors and preemie parents that have helped me on the road to recovery from my traumatic experience.
I am the face and the voice you see and hear from most often. But Steven works behind the scenes a lot by helping think of ideas, new projects, and designs. You will hear from Steven the most since he is my co-host on the Knock on Parenthood Podcast. He also helps run the podcast Instagram page by sharing his thoughts from the perspective of a husband of a preeclampsia survivor and preemie dad.
We share because we know what it is like when you are the only one in your real-life circle who experienced a less than ideal birth experience. We know how much sharing our birth story has helped us heal.
Why You Should Share Your Birth Story
When you share your birth story, a piece of you heals. You are also able to connect with others who have been through similar experiences. This helps you not feel as alone in your struggles.
I get messages and comments all the time, thanking me for sharing my or others’ birth stories. Sharing birth stories helps us connect as humans on personal levels and helps us know we aren’t alone. So if you are ready to share your birth story, fill out the form below. I will contact you if your story will be a good fit. If you want your story also shared as a blog post, these posts take longer to put together and require effort on your part to respond to emails. If you do not respond to my emails in a timely manner, your post will not be shared. If you are interested in being a guest on the Knock on Parenthood Podcast, please head over the podcast page here and fill out the form on that page.
