Healthy Leftover Baby Cereal and Puree Pancakes For Easy BLW (2024)

Do You Have Leftover Baby Cereal and Puree?

Baby Cereal and Puree Pancakes

One of my favorite recipes to make for a baby is baby cereal and puree pancakes. My daughter only ate purees a handful of times. She didn’t like purees so I quickly switched to BLW. We ended up having lots of leftover baby cereal and puree so I made this recipe to accommodate for the extra we had. After making the switch I had a huge problem because I had so many baby cereals and purees. My baby only wanted the kind of food that my husband and I were eating.

I didn’t want the leftover baby cereal and puree to go to waste so I went searching through the internet for recipes to make for her that used up the baby food. Nearly every recipe I found required bananas, but Baby C has an allergy. I tried to search for recipes that didn’t use bananas, but I couldn’t find any. So I had to make up my own using my leftover baby cereal and purees.

I whipped up some baby cereal and puree pancakes and a bonus is they are baby pancakes without bananas.

This baby cereal and puree pancakes make 40 pancakes and it is freezable! Baby pancakes without bananas. I make these about 1-2 times a month in the evening after the baby has gone to bed. When it is time for her to eat either breakfast or lunch I just pop 2 in the toaster and it is ready in minutes. So simple and easy! It uses leftover baby cereal and puree ingredients that you most likely already have on hand.

You’ll need the following ingredients

Baby Cereal and Puree Pancakes

  • 1/2 cup uncooked rice cereal (I use Gerber brand)
  • 1/2 cup uncooked baby oatmeal (I use Gerber brand)
  • 8 oz formula or breast milk (I used Enfamil Enfacare 22 calorie formula because that is the formula prescribed to her, my daughter is a preemie)
  • 4 oz puree (You can use any mix. I usually use 2 oz of a veggie and 2 oz of a fruit)

  • 3 egg yolks (I use the leftover whites for my breakfast the next morning)
  • 1/2-3/4 cup water (Use water to get the right consistency)

Mix the four, uncooked rice cereal, uncooked baby oatmeal, formula or breast milk, puree, unsalted butter, egg yolks, and water in a large mixing bowl. You want the batter to be as smooth as possible like a typical pancake batter. Add up to 3/4 cup of water as needed. Feel free to add more puree as needed to get the right consistency.

There isn’t an exact amount of batter to put on the hot skillet. Just a heaping spoonful of a spoon you would use to eat with. You can make bigger or smaller-sized baby cereal and puree pancakes depending on the age and eating ability of your baby.
