Simple DIY Baby Name: Great To Decorate Nursery Wall With

Before Baby C was born I wanted to make something to decorate nursery with. I really like to craft, but I am not the most creative person. I also needed something cheap because I was on a tight budget. This DIY baby name was the perfect project for me.

When I was strolling around the craft section at Walmart, I saw small wooden letters. I had used the bigger wooden letters years before for a date with my husband. We painted them to match our wedding colors. I grabbed the letters I needed to write out her name to decorate nursery with.

I didn’t want to paint her whole name in just pink, because I was afraid it would be too much. So I went through my craft box to see if I had anything to spice it up.

DIY Baby Name

I found that I had lots of scrapbook paper of different pink patterns for the letters to decorate nursery with. When I was a teenager, I used mod podge to stick scrapbook paper to the wood before. So, I picked out a few patterns and went to work.

It turned out so dang cute hanging above her crib.

You’ll need the following supplies to help decorate nursery with

Pink wood letter to decorate nursery

The first step is to paint your wooden letters. You don’t need to paint the whole letter. Just the sides of it as well as on the inside.

You then are going to trace out the letter on the opposite side of the pattern you want on the paper. This particular scrapbook paper I used has patterns on both sides. (I didn’t mean to start painting the top of the letter, just got carried away with painting).

DIY baby name cut the letter out of colored paper

Next, you are going to cut out the letter you traced on the paper. After you cut it out you are going to have your wooden letter and the paper letter.

Mod Podge for DIY baby name

This is the type of mod podge I used. What you are going to do with this is paint on the mod podge like you would with paint while the paper letter is on top of the wooden letter. This can be tricky so you need to go slow and hold onto the paper letter as you paint the mod podge on.

You are then going to let this dry overnight before hanging up.

You can definitely use scrapbook paper and mod podge for any wooden letter, not just to spell out names. I have done this for my last name and initials before.

This is so cute, personalized and inexpensive!
