Simple and Fun DIY Baby Jello Sensory Game For 2022

I’m always on the hunt for some fun at-home activities for Baby C. It’s still cold outside (and because of the COVID-19 outbreak) we are staying inside. She’s a very active baby and loves to explore. So trying this baby jello sensory game was the perfect thing for us.

Right now we, along with her physical therapist, are working on her pincer grasp. Ever since Baby C was a newborn, her thumb has been really tight against her palm. Because of this, she would try to grab toys and objects with just her four fingers. We have been working with her PT for months with her stiff thumbs and always trying new activities that keep her interest that allow her to practice using her thumb.

This Baby Jello Sensory activity was a huge hit.

This activity is something you want to do inside of your bathtub so you can give your baby and bathtub a quick rinse right after. I did this with her right before her nightly bath. She also really enjoyed eating jello. She did get cold after a while, so I think this activity will be great to do outside in the middle of summer.

You’ll need the following supplies

  • A Jello Packet (I used a cheap, store brand one)
  • Little baby toys (I used some teething toys and some links)
  • A pyrex pan that is deep enough for the toys to fit.

This packet of Jello was only 50 cents and it made the perfect amount. The only thing I didn’t like with the colored jello was Baby C’s hands were stained a little red the next day. So if you want to avoid that, get one that isn’t colored.

The links were perfect for this. I was able to put a lot of them in and they each have a different texture. She loved these more than the teething toys. I put these in the pan and layered them before I poured in the mixed Jello.

This is what it looked like before I put it in the fridge. Some of the links floated towards the top but as it chilled in the fridge they moved towards the bottom of the pan.

Baby C loved this baby jello sensory game. I stripped her down in just her diaper and let her do it all. She spent 20 minutes on this activity (which is a miracle for her). I think she would’ve gone longer if she wasn’t getting cold. After she was done I rinsed the bath and her off. Baby C loved grabbing pieces of the Jello and eating it as well.

After I got Baby C cleaned off and in bed, I then rinsed and washed her toys just in the bathtub. I then just tossed the rest of the Jello in the trash. My husband did eat some of it (he loves Jello) but since it was only 50 cents, I didn’t worry about saving it. But, if you want to eat it, go for it.

This is the perfect activity to help your baby learn and practice their pincer grasp. I do this now on a weekly basis. It’s so cheap and easy. This is something you can do while you are stuck inside from the COVID-19 outbreak.

I hope you enjoy this baby jello sensory game. Comment below and tell me how it went for you. Did your baby like it? Will you do it again?
